Late Autumn Sunset Along the Virginia River, St. John's

Late Autumn Sunset

It was very nice to see the sunshine out in full force today after a week of much fog and rain. After work I dressed up warm – the autumn air is getting very chilly! – and went for a walk. I took this photo on a walking trail not far from my home in St. John’s, Newfoundland. This small pond is a temporary calm point in the Virgina River where the water slows to a crawl before flowing under the bridge and swiftly downstream again.

There are only a few colours of autumn left showing in the trees this year, the weather has stripped most of the leaves from the trees. The colours in the sky as the sun set this evening however more than made up the difference.

Practice makes perfect (and not just in music lessons)!

This shot is breathtaking. I love the light on the telephone pole and the mellow colours. When you think autumn, you usually think bright, bold reds, yellows and greens, but this picture shows autumn’s softer side. Keep shooting!
